The honing process is well known as a finishing process in order to improve the form accuracy, as well as the surface roughness. In most cases, the surface roughness is a function not only of the grit size of the superabrasive, but also of the shape of the superabrasive grains. This paper presents a kinematics study of the honing process, taking into consideration the combination of the honing motion and the shape of the superabrasive grains. These kinematics equations were developed in order to serve as the basis for tribo-technological modeling of this process.
