THIS PAPER DESCRIBES A NEW SOLUBLE CUTTING FLUID THAT DOES NOT USE BIOCIDES YET RESISTS MICROBIAL DEGRADATION. BIORESISTANCE CAME FROM USING ALL SYNTHETIC COMPONENTS. IN DRILL-LIFE AND TURNING (LATHE) TESTS, THE NEW FLUID PERFORMED SIMILAR TO COMMERCIAL STANDARDS. IN A FOAM TEST, THIS FLUID ALSO BEHAVED LIKE OTHER COMMERCIAL SOLUBLE OILS AND IT DOES NOT CORRODE COPPER OR BRASS. IT ALSO PROTECTS MALLEABLE IRON FROM RUSTING. THE EMULSION REJECTS EXOGENOUS OILS (FOR EXAMPLE, HYDRAULIC OR WAY OILS). WHEN DESIRED FOR DISPOSAL, ACIDS OR MAGNESIUM SULFATE HEPTAHYDRATE (EPSOM SALT) WILL BREAK THE EMULSION. AQUATIC TESTS SHOW THAT THE AQUEOUS PORTION FROM A BROKEN EMULSION IS NOT TOXIC TO RAINBOW TROUT.
