THIS PAPER PRESENTS A SYNOPSIS OF THE STATISTICS OF SURVEILLANCE, INSPECTION, AND MAINTENANCE APPLICATION MISSIONS THAT HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED BY A SPECTRUM OF ROBOTIC DEVICES IN NUCLEAR-FUELED, AND TO A LESSER EXTENT FOSSIL- FUELED AND HYDR0-ELECTRIC, ELECTRIC POWER GENERATING PLANTS OPERATING IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA. THE STATISTICS HAVE BEEN COMPILED FROM DATA DEVELOPED FROM A SURVEY RECENTLY CONDUCTED BY THE UTILITY/MANUFACTURERS ROBOTS USER GROUP (U/M RUG). TO DATE, MORE THAN 2/3 OF THE DOMESTIC ELECTRIC UTILITIES OPERATING NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS (37 OF 55) HAVE EMPLOYED ROBOTS COST-EFFECTIVELY IN A VARIETY OF SITUATIONS DICTATED BY ROUTINE AND EMERGENCY REQUIREMENTS. EXPENSIVE REACTOR DOWNTIMES HAVE BEEN MINIMIZED ALONG WITH A REDUCTION OF RADIATION EXPOSURES TO WORKERS. IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT THE NUMBER OF UTILITIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD UTILIZING ROBOTIC DEVICES WILL CONTINUE T
