DESCRIBED HERE IS A NEW CONCEPT OF MACHINE TOOL DESIGN THAT UTILIZES A NEW LASER ENCODER BASED ON THE LASER DOPPLER DISPLACEMENT METER (LDDM) TECHNOLOGY. USING THIS LDDM LASER ENCODER, BOTH HIGH SPEED AND HIGH ACCURACY HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED.
