The use of least mean square adaptive feedforward control for rejecting the periodic disturbances in machining processes, with measurable periodicity, is discussed. The mechanics of this control technique are based on identifying the dynamics of the periodic disturbance propagation through the system, at certain frequencies (disturbance frequency and its harmonics). Based on this knowledge, the control is shaped to cancel the undesirable effects of the disturbance.
