The purpose of the Masonry Designers Guide (MDG) is to assist those involved in the design, construction, and regulation of masonry structures. The MDG-5's emphasis remains on how to apply the Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures and Specifications for Masonry Structures (ACI 530-05/530.1-05). This fifth edition of the MDG added a chapter on how to use the Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures and Specifications for Masonry Structures Code (ACI 530-05/530.1-05) in typical model code environments.
This latest edition of the MDG should prove to be a valuable reference for engineers, contractors, architects, inspectors, building code authorities, and educators. The initial chapters address materials, testing, quality assurance, quality control, and construction methods, with reference to specific provisions of the Code and Specification. Subsequent chapters illustrate fundamental design concepts, and show how to apply Code Provisions to the structural design of common masonry elements.
The final three chapters contain over 90 example problems related to three common masonry buildings. These comprehensive examples address a wide range of materials (clay masonry, concrete masonry, and autoclaved aerated concrete masonry) and a wide range of design approaches (allowable-stress design, strength design, and empirical design)
The MDG includes a CD-ROM, allowing you to easily search and find keywords.
