Aminoethyl-aminopropyl-trimethoxysilane is used as a coupling agent and adhesion promoter in fiberglass, adhesives and sealants, foundry resins, and in pre-treatment for coatings. In these applications it is typically used at levels less than 1%. It may also be used as a cross-linking agent at levels between 3 and 5%. In the consumer or industrial product, aminoethyl-aminopropoyl-trimethoxysilane reacts with components of the formulation and is present as the parent silane at levels between 0.1 and 0.2%. The low levels of the parent silane are consumed into the polymer matrix and no longer exist after the curing process. Therefore, consumer exposure to aminoethyl-aminopropyl-trimethoxysilane is minimal.
