The purpose of this test method is to investigate the ability ofmattresses to resist rapid heat release by measuring specific firetest responses when the mattress or mattress set is subjected to aspecified flaming ignition source under well ventilated conditions.This test method is applicable only to the finished mattresses andmattress sets and does not apply to testing of individual componentmaterials used, such as ticking and upholstery materials, foams,cotton battings, etc. This test method does not provide information onthe performance of a mattress or mattress set in other fire conditions orthe contribution of the mattress to a developing fire condition.
