This Standard covers construction and performance requirements for control units and accessories for intrusion alarm systems, including protected premises control units and accessories for local or signal receiving centre connections, and signal receiving centre alarm receiving equipment, including recording equipment. The equipment is intended for use in premises, safes and vaults.
This Third Edition consolidates the requirements of, and supersedes, CAN/ULC-S303-M91 (R1999), Standard for Local Burglar Alarm Units and Systems; and ULC/ORD-C1023-74, Preliminary Standard for Household Burglar Alarm System Units. The Standard has been revised to include wireless requirements for commercial intrusion alarm applications and has been harmonized with the latest editions CAN/ULC-S302, Standard for the Installation, Inspection and Testing of Intrusion Alarm Systems, and UL 1610, Central Station Burglar Alarm Units.
The construction and test requirements in this Edition of CAN/ULC-S304 have been consolidated regardless of the application, to allow the security levels defined in CAN/ULC-S302 to govern the classification of the control units, accessories and receiving equipment for intrusion alarm systems.
